Help Jamie go on a volunteering expedition to Kenya
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Jamie Leicester (16) from Warrington and I am looking for donations for a 4 week expedition to Kenya in July 2025.
I raised £5000 in 6 months last year (currently doing GCSEs so wanted to sort it early) painting and selling bags, doing summer fairs and car boot sales and climbed Snowdon (in a lion costume!) and now just need a little bit more for spends and the last bit of kit so making a final push.
In Kenya, I will be working with local people tree planting, de-worming animals, making elephant deterrent fences (that deter but don’t harm elephants) and making paper out of elephant dung to generate an income for the community. I will also help construct community buildings - painting, plastering and brick laying to improve the quality of life of the local people. I will also have the incredible chance to go on safari and meet the world famous Maasai tribe.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me which was only possible if I did lots of fundraising. I have always helped my mum at home (she had a serious stroke before I was born and hasn’t been able to do everything for us that she wants to) and I’m really looking forward to making a difference to the local people and communities. I have more responsibilities at home than the average 16 year old and getting the chance to experience safari (which I thought I would only be able to do when I was much older) is a massive thing for me to do for myself.
I am very grateful for your support, thank you
