James MPAL Journey

Donation protected
On Christmas Eve 2020 James Gillespie, who has just turned 1, was rushed to hospital following a period of illness and unresolved infections. It was discovered that James has a rare form of Leukaemia (MPAL) requiring immediate surgery and intense chemotherapy and 3-4 years of ongoing treatment.

Following surgery on Christmas Day and intense Chemotherapy on Boxing Day, James suffered a stroke, requiring more long term care and treatment.

James is receiving ongoing treatment and care at Addenbrookes hospital, whilst his parents travel back and forth from Norfolk to juggle being with James and their other 5 children.

James (1 year) is the youngest of 6 children. His parents David (self employed painter & decorator) and Anne-Marie (self employed carer) met as teenagers.

Anne-Marie will now become James' full time carer (alongside being her own mother's carer also).

This fundraiser has been created by local friends, with James' parents permission, to support the family during James' treatment and his ongoing care, which will also require a lot of travel, being unable to work, accommodation and childcare for their other children. Any amount you can give will go immediately to the family to support them during this time and will be so gratefully received.

*Some of the funds raised will be used to buy toys for the Addenbrookes Children's Ward as per the update on 05.01.2020. Due to Covid19 the children are unable to play together as usual and more resources are required.
