Hello, My name is James MacPherson and I'm currently a Life Scout working towards achieving the rank of Eagle. I've been involved in scouting since I was a Cub Scout, starting as a Wolf in the Long Beach Area Council located in Long Beach, California. I began as a Cub with Pack 21 and now am a Scout with Troop 21. Scouting has given me many opportunities to grow, lead, teach others, give back to the community and be a better citizen.

I've chosen to partner with my high school, Intellectual Virtues Academy for my Eagle Service Project and give back to my school community for the support they've given other students and me. For my project, I wanted to help the school and the environment by reducing our carbon footprint. We currently don't have a dedicated system for recycling and this became the focus of my project. I'm leading a project team that will build a multi-unit bin system to hold and sort recycles. This will be a permanent system in my school encouraging all students and staff to sort their recyclables into different bins; cans, bottles, paper, and landfill (trash). We will be posting wall art to show individuals what goes in each bin. This way, we're helping the environment and learning more about how to recycle for a better tomorrow.
