On September 2, 2025, our family lost a beloved soul far too soon. James “Butchie” Whaley passed suddenly in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity that touched everyone who knew him.

Butchie was so many things—a devoted husband, a proud father, a veteran who served his country, and a truck driver who worked hard to provide. He was a Christian man, active in his church, and he lived with a joy that was contagious. If you knew him, you know that his smile could light up any room. It took a lot to get him down, and he was the kind of man everyone could count on.

He was the uncle who always had a dollar or two in his pocket for the kids, the friend who would lend a hand without hesitation, and the family member who reminded us—through his actions—that kindness and generosity are what matter most.

We want to give Butchie the beautiful farewell he deserves, but we can’t do it alone. Our family is raising $3,000 to cover funeral and memorial expenses so we can honor his life in a way that reflects the love and light he shared with us all.
