Jamaica Orphanage Volunteer Trip

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Claire Marie. I am an energy therapist outside the Twin Cities area in Minnesota.  My wife, Julie and I live in the beautiful St. Croix River Valley.   Over the years Julie and I  have become close friends with a family called the Lesmeisters. Six years ago, the Lesmeister clan increased by one when they adopted their son, Neyo. He is a beautiful 10-year-old boy whom we have come to know and love. Neyo’s mom, Tonja, tells us stories about where Neyo came from, a Jamaican orphanage called Robin’s Nest, and how the family worked with the orphanage to bring Neyo home. Since then, the family has been back several times to help the orphanage with repairs and donations, both monetary and material. This year Neyo finally got to return to Robin’s Nest to help little ones like himself. Hearing of his experience and how powerful it was for him to give back; Julie and I have decided we want to offer our assistance as well.

Tonja has asked us to be included on an important trip to help Robin’s Nest Children’s Home and their sister orphanage, Melody House for Girls, in Jamaica. Both orphanages are in critical need of assistance because of the poverty that plagues this beautiful country. Through these orphanages, the children are able to get an education and have a much-needed place to call home.

Not only would Julie and I be helping to keep the buildings in better shape repairing closets, doors, floors and the playground, but I will also be working with 2 other energy therapists to help the people of both orphanages. The plan with Robin’s Nest is to work with the staff to give them a reprieve and chance for self-care; giving each staff member and “pod-mom” a chance for rejuvenation and healing, as a reward for all they’ve given to each child in their care.

The plan for Melody House would be to work with the girls who live there. The girls at Melody House are ages 12- 17 and many of them come to the orphanage with challenges caused by trauma or abuse. The other healers and I will be working gently with the girls to teach them how to use meditation techniques, breathing exercises, and other ways to not just survive, in their lives, but to thrive.

Here’s how you can be a part of this wonderful journey with us. In addition to our airfare, we are also looking to raise money to help bring supplies to the children. Simple things you and I take for granted, such as peanut butter, sanitary napkins, computer parts for the facilities, and the like. This trip is not affiliated with any church or organization. 100% of the money we raise will go towards travel expenses and supplies. The more donated, the more we can give them.

Your donations will allow this extraordinary work to happen. For those who would like more information, I would like to share a link to the Facebook support page our team has set up called Jamaica Orphanage Team 2019: https://www.facebook.com/groups/JamaicaSupport2019/
