Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica with a force none of us were fully prepared for. My heart is heavy as I share that my family, along with family friends and neighbours in the Friendship and Westmoreland communities, have been deeply affected.
Some homes were damaged beyond recognition, roofs ripped open, windows shattered, doors torn away and others, though still standing, are no longer safe or secure. What has always been a close community is now struggling to rebuild not just houses, but the sense of normalcy and comfort those homes once provided.
I am incredibly grateful that many lives were spared. But whether a home lost everything or “just a little,” the impact has touched everyone.
Your neighbour’s pain is also your own—we hurt together, we support together, and we rebuild together.
This page is not just about raising funds. It’s about coming together to help families and restore a roof over a child’s head, a door that can lock, a dry place to sleep, and a sense of hope. It’s about helping children who are shaken by the experience feel comfort, stability, and care as their families try to recover.
If you feel called to support in any way whether through sharing this, sending prayers, or contributing please know that it means more than words can express. Every gesture helps lighten the weight for a family who is trying to pick up the pieces.
Any support received will be used directly to help rebuild homes and restore a sense of comfort : including repairs to roofs, windows, and doors, replacing essential household items
From my heart to yours, thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring about a community that means so much to me.
-With love and gratitude
Britney
