The Jaliyaa Project: Ghana 2024

Empowering D.C.'s Youth, Strengthening Our Community

Transforming Lives and Perspectives
The Jaliyaa Project is not just a trip; it's a movement. Dedicated to empowering underserved young men aged 13-15 in Washington, D.C., this initiative aims to reshape their outlook on life and their role in the world. By immersing them in a profound cultural experience that explores African heritage and history, we strive to instill self-confidence, broaden horizons, and cultivate a deeper understanding of global interconnectedness.

Our Comprehensive Approach
From February to August, our program engages these young minds through:

In-depth Workshops: Delving into African history, culture, and the diaspora, these sessions aim to foster a sense of pride and identity.
Cultural Exposure in D.C.: Museum visits, local events, and interactive activities are designed to enrich and inspire, connecting the lessons to their immediate environment.
Ghanaian Expedition: The journey culminates in a transformative 10-day trip to Ghana. Here, participants will not only witness the legacy of their ancestors but also engage in hands-on learning through traditional arts, community interactions, and historical site visits.

Howard University Students' Role
In a unique collaboration, Howard University students will join and support the young participants. This partnership serves as a bridge between university life and local communities, fostering mutual mentorship, understanding, and unity.

Your Impact on D.C. and Beyond
Your support contributes to a ripple effect of positive change:

$50: Facilitates access to D.C.'s rich educational resources.
$100: Opens the door to global exploration with a passport.
$250: Ensures comprehensive educational materials for each participant.
$500: Provides essential transportation for D.C.-based cultural activities.
$1,000 - $1,500: Covers nutritional needs during the program.
$7,500: Fully funds one participant’s journey, offering them a life-altering experience.

Join Us in Shaping the Future
By supporting The Jaliyaa Project, you're investing in the personal growth of these young men and the collective future of our community. Your contribution is a powerful statement of belief in their potential and in the transformative power of cultural education.
