Hello, my name is Meredith Brown , and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read this story. My twin sister Katie’s husband Jaime has been blindsided by the diagnosis of cancer. Katie and Jaime went to high school together and met again at their 10 year high school reunion. They have been married for over 20 years. Katie(52) and Jaime(51) are the parents to 3 boys, Drakeford(25), Raphael(19), and Samuell(17). They are also grandparents to 3 boys, Gray(5), Teddy(3), and Leon(1). Katie’s husband Jaime was suffering from pancreatitis and after 2 ER visits he went to his GI doctor on September 27, 2023, and was advised to go to the ER to get admitted. They were concerned about his pancreatitis, jaundice, and anemia. The doctors ran numerous blood tests, gave Jaime blood transfusions, and did MRI and CT scans. The doctors told Jaime they suspected GI lymphoma. Jaime was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. It is a very fast growing and aggressive type of cancer. Jaime endured many surgeries, blood transfusions, biopsies, and setbacks to finally be released to rehab on October 17, 2023. Jaime was sent back to the ER on October 25,2023 from rehab because he wasn’t doing well. At the ER it was determined that the gall bladder had popped. While in the ER, Katie noticed a huge bed sore and brought it to the attention of the nurses. Jaime again went through many surgeries, blood transfusions, 2 trips to the ICU and went through 3 rounds of chemo. He was released to a long-term medical care hospital on January 13,2024. While in the long-term care, he had his feeding tube and drain tubes removed, so he could go to rehab again. Jaime hasn’t been on his feet in 3 months and has lost over 100 lbs. Jaime was released from rehab on February 21, 2023 for a day and a half before having to go to the ER again. He had a GI stent replaced, spent a few days in the hospital and was released back home on February 27, 2023. Jaime had to get a PET scan, that could only be done as an outpatient. He was having trouble keeping anything down and was on a very limited diet. The PET scan was performed, and the results were in. The cancer has grown and is in his lymph nodes. The outcome is very uncertain at this time. Jaime was sent back to the hospital on March 6, 2024. He has a bone infection, had to have another surgery to connect the stomach to the small intestine and put in another feeding tube. Katie and the boys have been by his side constantly, traveling back and forth to the hospitals and rehab. Any money donated will be used to help pay for the numerous medical bills that are coming in and to help Katie and the boys through this rough time. Jaime has only been home for about 4 days since September. Jaime still has a rough road ahead of him and is almost out of leave for his job. The expenses during this time have been enormous and any help would be greatly appreciated. Any amount you’re willing to contribute will help this family in this stressful time and if you aren’t able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to them as well.
