Jaiden Halai's Peru Expedition

Hello, my name is Jaiden Halai and I’m currently in year 9. I will be joining Camps International on a 4 week expedition to Peru in July 2024. To achieve this objective, I will need to raise £4,780 through fundraising and sponsorship.

Camps International are an international volunteer travel operator. They build permanent volunteer accommodation camps within Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Borneo, Cambodia, Ecuador and Peru. I would really like to take this once in a lifetime opportunity to help local communities in making a big difference.

I will be volunteering with local people in Peru where we will be helping with developing projects based on their needs to improve their living standards.

My responsibilities will include low-level construction, cement mixing and painting. I will be enhancing ways of living and putting a big smile on people’s faces. I will also be part of building new homes for vulnerable families and classrooms to improve education.

I will get to have a chance to experience the incredible trek to the UNESCO world heritage site of Machu Picchu. This will teach me a number of new skills that I will develop along the way. It will also help me to improve my communication skills amongst new people that I will be teamed up with.

This expedition is a life changing opportunity and will allow me to experience authentic culture and environmental diversity, give me chances to learn new skills and make me stronger and more confident as a person.

I never imagined I would get a chance like this at the age of 15.
