Jaguars United to Bhubesi Pride in Malawi

Message From Sarah:
This idea started from the desire to want to do something good in the world. The idea of bringing a team of people I know and love together, came almost completely organically. Giving a platform to do good, and unite American Rugby felt like the ‘something’ that was missing. Bringing an amazing group of athletes and coaches together who have either represented their country at a national or Olympic level. Providing them a place to continue to grow, play and thrive for a greater purpose as one brand.

This isn’t to compete with other touring sides, but to compliment them. It's to show we can unite people together from all over for a higher purpose. It's the simple knowledge that people are inherently good and want to do good, and this is providing an opportunity and platform for them to do that.

My mentor, Emil Signes, founded Atlantis, which was based on giving back, developing talent and experiencing other cultures. I wanted to continue this, and allow athletes to give back through mentorship, and personal action.
We have assembled an extremely talented team to take to Safari 7s, not only talented athletes, but incredible humans who are compassionate humanitarians. Their travels will take them from a week in Kenya to the Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s Complex in Mtema, Malawi. Where they will be working with the local community and children for a week.

Why Bhubesi Pride? After meeting John Layfield I was amazed at his generosity and commitment to the inner city youth rugby programs in Bermuda, Memphis, and DC. I saw he was building a school and rugby complex in Malawi. Coming from wrestling, even as the longest reigning WWE Smackdown champ, he had never played rugby but saw that it was an avenue for change.
John told me about the complex and school they were building. During the world cup, I met Gareth Nolkes, the now CEO of Bhubesi Pride who moved his family from Bermuda to Malawi to run this program. After a week in Japan watching the quarter finals with him, I knew what a big heart Gareth possessed and that I wanted to be involved with their organization. I asked what I could do and started thinking of how I could not just bring one group, but several, to experience what I know will be something life changing, in Malawi. I have been to over 35 different countries, like many of you and these athletes, but going somewhere for competitive sport, experiencing it, and being able to give back are very different things. I think it shows us even more during this crazy time we are living in how
important it is to think of ourselves as global citizens, especially as we all are trying to figure out what is going on in the world. So far this process has given me so much and my heart is full every time I get off the phone. I've individually called my friends and colleagues and every single one has asked what THEY can do, and how they can help. So now we are asking for your help. Even the smallest amount can make change happen, and you can be a part of that change.

“There is beauty and power in unity. We must be united in heart and mind. One       world, one people.”

Jaguars United Sponsorship Opportunities

The Jaguars United touring program was founded around the idea that sport can be a tremendous force for good. It brings communities together around a shared love of sport, it transcends class, race and geography. It teaches young men and women core life values, the importance of hard work, competition and perseverance.
The Jaguars United project will use sport as a tool to bridge cultural divides and support the integral programs around the world that use rugby to promote important social goals.
Jaguars United will create a traveling Rugby squad that will combine competitive rugby tours, with meaningful volunteer programming.

Using rugby as its core medium, the Jaguars will:

● Create formative cultural experiences for participating athletes, helping them to grow by experiencing new cultures and through volunteer experience

● Create meaningful connections across cultures through rugby

● Use storytelling to raise awareness and funds for the projects we work within the US and overseas

THE JAGUARS UNITED PILOT PROGRAM

is built around two complementary goals:

● Raising awareness, and funds, for the Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s programs in
Malawi

● Providing meaningful experiences for emerging leaders

Jaguars United as an organization is comprised of professional and international players and staff including several Rio Olympians. Part of our world class team includes the passionate minds of Sarah Sall, Garrett Bender, Andrew Duratalo, Shalom Suniula and Osea Koliniseau, and is accompanied by an internationally acclaimed staff.

The team will play in the Safari Sevens Tournament in Nairobi, globally recognized as one of the best elite club sevens tournaments in the world.
The Jaguars will tell the story of the experience through articles, video and photos.
Storytelling will be built around the mission of raising awareness about the Bhubesi Pride Foundation’s programs in Malawi.
With rugby as the core medium, we will use interviews as well as photo and videographic storytelling to highlight the needs that BPF’s work addresses as well as their programs and successes.
Also attached to this email is a brief presentation on the Bhubesi Pride Foundation and their programs

THE JAGUAR MANIFESTO

When Deciding on a team name that embodied our spirit we wanted something that would represent change and intent. We were drawn to the Jaguar, especially since it calls the Americas home.

Strong inside and out, the Jaguar’s grace comes from the ability to create confidence, attract opportunity, envision goals and to create positive change. Knowing this change cannot happen without transformation, they adapt with dignity. Never allowing things to remain the same. Jaguars are creative, able to see the ‘big picture’ with ease. Their intuition guides them without hesitation. This is the power of the jaguar.

The jaguar spirit is the force that keeps man connected to all elements offering balance, foundation, self empowerment, and the ability to harness their inner strength. Jaguars are acutely in tune with the subtle energies of the earth, hearing and feeling everything happening around them. Frequently viewed as a symbol of life and strength, jaguars are representative of power, ferocity, and valor.

Gracefulness combined with beauty, agility and incredible speed, makes them powerful when pursuing something they desire.
The intensity of their eyes speaks to their nature of being focused at all times. By crafting their next move and thinking ahead by three steps Jaguars know what they will do before they do it. The Jaguar conveys the power of intent. Visualizing every move to perfection, rehearsing the mission, preparing, allowing this vision to come to life. Applied with well trained discipline, manifestation is among the greatest powers of the Jaguar, leading them to outcomes of remarkable success.

The more the Jaguar is embraced as your brother or sister; the more powerful you become. It is said, to create opportunity you must meet the jaguar spirit in the jungle. Found sitting high in the trees silent and unmoving. Breathing from the centre of its being, in tune with the subtle energies of the earth.
Native only to the Americas, Jaguars have large paws and a broad head with very strong jaws. They possess the strongest bite of any cat on the planet. This graceful, yet ferocious, feline was linked to the number seven by the Mayans.
