Hello Friends & Family of Jaden Katoa! As you may be aware Jaden is currently suffering from Acute Myleoid Leukemia.
How this was discovered was Jaden initially being diagnosed with Covid (that he caught from the fellow football teammate). He fought it off himself for a couple weeks and then was admitted into the ICU at Stanford due to complications of the Covid and also having pneumonia and fluid in his lungs.
After he got through the pneumonia they were testing him for other things due to his blood cell count and on the day he was set to come home from Stanford we were told that he may have AML.
He was home for five days had a fever went back to the emergency room here in Monterey for about nine hours and they rushed him back via ambulance to Stanford to have him admitted. They did another bone marrow test and at that time determined that he has AML.
The treatment for this is a minimum of 6 to 9 months of inpatient chemo treatment at Stanford. Depending on whether or not it’s low risk medium risk or high risk there could potentially be other avenues to take in addition to the chemo such as bone marrow transfer transplant and or stem cell transplant.
We will be discovering more during the course of his treatment.
These funds will help with his hospital bills, his personal needs, and gas for his mother to come and visit him up at the hospital as much as possible.
These funds would be appreciated when people have time. As far as a timeframe I could say as soon as possible but we understand it’s the holidays and we’re flexible and appreciative of any help we can receive.
Funds would also be used to keep Jaden mentally and emotionally staying positive and engaged in whatever means that is necessary as far as having someone extra to talk to, getting him video games, books, etc.
We thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts of healing for Jaden.
