Jack Brunner - CYWA Eagle Scout Project

My name is Jack Brunner and I'm working on an Eagle Scout Project for Hopewell Troop 8 to benefit the CYWA, Coatesville Youth & Women’s Alliance shelter. My goal is to raise enough money to revitalize the front landscape of the Coatesville Youth & Women's Alliance Shelter.

The CYWA is especially important to me because I’ve seen first hand the positive impact the shelter has on people’s lives in the community. The CYWA improves people’s lives physically and mentally by offering a non-perishable food distribution program twice a week for those in need, transitional housing for women and children and a drug rehabilitation program, amongst other beneficial programs.

It is through volunteering over the past few years at the shelter that I gained invaluable experience that gave me passion to want to do more. I want to improve the CYWA and make it more welcoming by revitalizing the front landscaping of the building.

Currently, when you walk up to the building you are greeted by a vast empty, lifeless weed-filled flower bed with a handful of dead plants. The front of the building has simply been forgotten and neglected. My plan is to bring the 50 foot space to life. I will need funds to install approximately 30 bushes or plants, weed, apply soil, and mulch the 50 foot space.

This is my way to stay connected to the community and improve the lives of others. Since the CYWA operates on donations, this project is dependent on people like you.
