Feed Our Frontline Healthcare Workers

Hey everyone, 

I hope you all are staying healthy and safe in these crazy times.

I've been looking for some way of helping out some of the incredibly hardworking healthcare professionals that are on the front lines of the pandemic and came up with (OK, shamelessly stole from a friend in NYC), the simple idea of buying meals for shifts of nurses (and other healthcare professionals) at local hospitals. 

I spoke with a friend who works in the ICU at Washington Healthcare Center with Covid patients, and relayed that he works with a unit of about 30 nurses, who would all be very grateful if we would just buy them a meal during one of the long shifts they are working. It would also have the added bonus of infusing some dollars into locally-owned restaurants - who of course are also hurting right now. 

Using a handy-dandy meal calculator - it looks like for around 30 folks each meal would be in the $300-400 range, and so initially set the GoFundMe amount at $1,000, hoping we might be able to get 3 meals for different healthcare professionals at different hospitals over about the next two weeks, starting with my friend's next shift with his unit on Friday, 4/24. If you know other folks at other local hospitals that might like to get a meal for themselves and their colleagues - please reach out.
