My friend Mike is disabled. He put everything he had into an ambulance converted into a home on wheels to live because even renting a small room is difficult on disability. He and his cats moved in, but the engine and transmission immediately needed expensive repairs. The mechanic he hired took all the money up front and began working on it. Over the weekend of Feb 20-22, the mechanic told him he could drive it for the night to where he was parking overnight. It caught on fire. He was unable to put out the fire, and he lost everything. One cat perished, and the other is burned and struggling. Moo is his ESA, 14.5yo. He was left with the clothes on his back, an old pair of glasses, and Moo. He needs to replace clothes, toiletries, bedding, etc, and his home. Mike is hoping to purchase a used cargo van to be his new home. He needs help with raising money for that as well all the things needed to make it a home and motel costs while he is homeless. His cat will likely need more veterinary services. This is a devastating loss for him. The sooner he can purchase a van, the less money will be lost on motels, and the less overall help will be needed. I have known Mike for over 20 years, and he has helped us out more than once. He's a really good guy, and he needs our help now.
