The Campaign Against Anti-Black Racism is trying to fundraise $35,000, to cover some urgent legal expenses for Prof. Aimé Avolonto and Lydia Dosu, in their years-long fight against Anti-Black Racism at York University.

First, as part of Aimé's case at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), we need an expert report by a reputable and experienced human rights lawyer about York University's investigation process, which has been an independent source of harm to Aimé, Lydia, and other participants.

The cost of commissioning the report is $20,000, which we have begun to pay even before we raise the funds (a few supporters are fronting the cost on their credit cards).

Second, we have successfully requested a judicial review of a concerning decision by the Adjudicator in Lydia's case at the HRTO.

While we are confident about the validity of our concerns, we face expenses of at least $15,000, just to prepare for the review.

In total, we are urgently trying to raise $35,000 in the coming weeks.

One of the main reasons cases like Aimé's and Lydia's fail is not because they lack merit, but because they lack resources. Most people just can't afford to pay the cost of a chance at justice.

As you know, we are up against as many as four legal teams, with seemingly unlimited resources: two in-house legal teams at York University and two downtown Toronto private law firms.

Any donation you can make towards these immediate costs will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your generous support!
