Dear friends and family,
My name is Christopher Hernandez. I'm thirteen years old and in late August I moved in with Brad and Becky Baker after being in foster care for about four years. I’m interested in being a police officer and I'm an eighth grade honor student with a 4.0 GPA at Turtle Bay School. I have recently taken some risks like playing flag football team for the first time. I’m getting involved with a youth group at church and I enjoy being closer to God and building relationships with wonderful people. I enjoy volunteering and my recent activities have been a CASA fundraiser (CASA is a nonprofit organization that helps support foster youth through mentoring and advocacy) as well as volunteering at my school to wrap holiday baskets for a fundraiser.
My love for history has encouraged me to apply to go on a one week trip to Washington D.C. On this trip we will see many amazing things like the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and I’m most interested in seeing the White House. I’m a little nervous about going on an airplane for the first time but, i know it will be really fun.
I’ve been taking on extra chores in the house and additional yard work to help me save money for the trip. In order to go on this trip I have to raise $2270 before March. I would greatly appreciate your support as i pursue this adventure. I hope you have enjoyed my letter and I hope you can help.
