Hi my name is Izzy and I have recently been selected to represent Girl Guiding SW England to volunteer in community projects in India.
I will be going in August 2026, along with 15 other Girl Guides from the region. I will be the youngest participant on the trip with a majority of girls selected being 16-18 years old and I will have just turned 14 when we travel.
I am really looking forward to this life changing opportunity and I can’t wait to see such a different culture.
I have been a committed member of Girl guiding for 7 years I have grown in confidence, resilience and leadership skills, through active participation in guiding activities and volunteering in my local community.
This trip to India is not just a travel experience but an opportunity to engage with global issues, participate in community charity projects and immerse myself in a new culture.
We will be staying at Sangam one of the five Girl Guiding world centres and will volunteer our time in local children’s outreach projects and will learn about the challenges faced in the lives of young women in India.
To go on the trip I have to raise the money myself. The trip cost is £3600 and I have already raised £1100 through doing odd jobs, selling items, bake sales, grants, my own savings and making items to sell.
I would be incredibly grateful if you would be able to support me to reach my goal in any donations you are able to give.
I will continue to hold fundraising events and make items to sell during the next year.
This experience will allow me to bring back valuable insights to share with my unit, local schools and wider community.
I hope to make links when I go and am passionate about empowering other young people and see this as an opportunity to grow as a global citizen and role model.
Thank you so much in advance!!
Izzy.
