Hi,
This is Izzie. She's a 7 year old girl who was living her best life, doing well at school with all her friends, until one day I found a lump on her arm. This was at the end of January 2026.
After many extensive tests carried out by our amazing NHS, Izzie was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. There are two subtypes of this cancer and Izzie has the Alveolar subtype which has the worst prognosis. At first we thought it was localised to her arm and should be straight forward to cure, but a full body scan showed that it had spread across her lower spine in multiple places. It is also in her lymph nodes. This all happened in just over a month and on the 9th of March we were given the devastating news that her cancer would be so much harder to treat now it has spread. Surgery was taken off the table.
Chemo started on the 11th of March and we now face a long and hard battle ahead. Izzie needs constant care and I am finding it hard to work and pay the bills. The costs of travelling to and from the hospital are racking up and we are struggling as it is not local to where we live.
To say our world came crashing down is an understatement. This beautiful girl could be taken from us by this rare and aggressive cancer, we are not even sure if it will respond to the chemo.
My lovely nephews are doing a long distance run to raise funds for us to support and help ease some of the financial pressure, so we can focus fully on her care and the road ahead. My eldest daughter Thea will also be taking part in the fund raising activities by cycling the 9 miles alongside her cousins. She's only 11!
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. If you’re not able to give, sharing this page would also help more than you know.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and for keeping us in your thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read Izzie's story.
Jo Xx
To raise money my brother and I who are Izzie's cousins will be running approximately 9 miles along the Flitch way. All donations raised from these fundraising activities and this page will go to support Izzie and her family to help them through this difficult time.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Max and Leo (Izzie's cousin's)
