Iyengar Yoga Association Los Angeles 2022

Dear Friends of Iyengar Yoga,

Please take a few minutes to read this letter in its entirety. It has important information about the start of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Los Angeles (IYALA) fundraising campaign.

Let us thank you wholeheartedly for your continued support of IYALA and the Institute (IYILA). Your generous donations and participation in classes have made it possible for us to continue to offer a regular schedule of workshops and classes with top teachers from around the world, free Sunday workshops, and free community offerings. All of which many have come to rely on during these troubled times.

In addition to offering quality classes to everyone, our fundraising allows us to continue to pay our excellent teaching faculty commensurate with their extraordinary talent. Please remember that many of the LA teachers you may follow, whether at IYILA or another platform, has grown up and benefited over the years from IYILA.

Our fundraising drive begins early this year as we navigate the unpredictable changing market. It is a heavy lift, as an all-volunteer board to keep the Institute moving forward. The recent closures of many other popular and visible yoga studios exhibit the challenges facing the yoga community.

Over the past two years, IYALA has been subsidized through federal grants and the PayCheck Protection forgiveness, which helped offset the cost of bringing classes to the IYILA community during the early pandemic period. The federal programs have terminated, and we continue as a non-profit organization that relies on donations to keep the Institute vital and afloat. We ask you to give generously this year with our goal of $75,000 in donations to do just that -- keep the Institute open through 2023.

Once again, thank you for your past generosity and your continued participation in the practice of Iyengar Yoga. We look forward to seeing you in class online or in person if we find an affordable and suitable venue.
