Founded in the mid-90s, as Guatemala's 30-year civil war came to an end, Project Ix-canaan has grown since then to include a clinic, a dentist, women's groups, a library and children's learning centre, and has found sponsorships for dozens of girls and women to finish their educations. Employing local staff supported by international long- and short-term volunteers, Ix-canaan has made an incredible impact on the development of the local community - and won't be stopping any time soon! It achieves all of this with under $1,000/month - but sometimes it's hard to get even that small amount in to support this large and vibrant community (it really is incredible how far a little goes out here in the beautiful jungles!).

As the world begins to open back up after a devastating pandemic that impacted El Remate's community in a number of ways and we're able to start our crucial work again safely and responsibly, we need your donations - whatever the amount - to help as much and as many as we can.
