Katharine's Service Trip to Zambia

As a member of Impact at UGA, I was always taught that service was love made visible.
I am a junior at the University of Georgia and am striving to serve in Zambia this May through a growing organization called International Volunteer HQ . If you would like to learn more about where I'll be staying, it is called Dream Livingstone Zambia . As some of you may know, my major is speech pathology because of my adoration for children and helping others. When I read the description of this specific service trip to Zambia, I knew it was for me.
This trip is focused around children living under the poverty line in Zambia that may suffer from poor hygiene, inadequate education, lack of food, and no healthcare. It is essential that these children come into contact with volunteers like us in order to get individualized attention and a focus on early development in order to break the cycle of poverty in Zambia. I'm not foolish, I know that I single-handedly can't fix an entire country. But I do know that you must do small things with great love.
The service work I will be focusing on here is mentoring, basic teaching, helping with homework, giving affection, meals, cleaning, helping with the general running of the home and interacting with the children through various things such as singing, dancing, playing, etc.
I know that these children will change me just as much as I wish to change and influence their lives. Thank you so much for reading this. If you can't donate financially, prayers will always always always be appreciated and needed. It's around 700 for the trip itself and 2000 for the plane ride. I figured if I could raise even half that, that would be absolutely incredible. My friends and family are incredible! Thank you so much everyone!
