For those who don’t know me, I’m Cassie, Sam & Andy’s sister-in-law. I’ve created this fundraiser because I want to show them how much we all love and support them and their journey to start a family.

Some of you may or may not be aware of their struggles to conceive a child so I’m going to share their story.

Sam & Andy have been together since October 2012 so just about 7 years together. They just celebrated their 4 year wedding anniversary this past July 18, 2019. They have always envisioned having children at a young age so after they got married they didn’t want to wait too long.  After about a year of marriage they planned to try to start a family. Unfortunately, after almost 3 years of trying that didn’t happen.

In the beginning they didn’t think much of it and were not worried as it can take time for anybody to conceive a child. After over two years of negative pregnancy tests, they thought they should look into it further. They tried using several ovulation apps and predictor kits hoping they would help with tracking but still nothing happened. They also tried some prenatal home remedies and still nothing.

Over the past three years, while they were going through this, one-by-one their friends and family members started getting pregnant. I know this took a serious toll on both of them. Although they were thrilled for their loved ones, it was so hard for them to watch others CONSTANTLY get what they want in life: a family. I personally could see how emotionally draining and discouraging this was for them.

After trying for almost three years, and having no success, they decided that it was time to see a fertility specialist. They were diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility which essentially means it is difficult for them to conceive but they aren’t quite sure why exactly. The doctor advised them to start taking fertility medication which required Sam to take meds and inject herself with shots daily. I actually witnessed her do this and I couldn’t imagine having to go through that. I remember telling her how strong she was for doing this to try to start her family.

After trying fertility meds for three cycles, it still didn’t work. This took such a mental toll on them both that they decided to take a break and try to conceive naturally once again. I remember Sam asking me if she should take a break or do another cycle because she was mentally and physically drained. Just imagine wanting something so bad in life and feeling the pressure to make the right decision when you have no clue what that really is. With Andy their to support her, they came to the  decision that was right for them.

After about 6 months of taking a break and taking some time to relax they chose to look into the next option for them which is IVF. They spoke with their fertility doctor again and his most recent findings were that Sam’s eggs have a difficult time when it comes to fertilization so IVF would be the most promising option because it would aide in the fertilization process. They are both hopeful but I’m sure they’re anxious as well and they need the support of their loved ones so any help is appreciated.

IVF is a long  journey both mentally and financially. Luckily they have each other and their family/friends to support them. Our calls and messages are appreciated, but I feel like we can do more to make their dream come true. No amount is too small! Please donate if you can! ❤️

Thank you!!
