Dear Family & Friends,
As a lot of you all know, it has been our deepest desire, and most challenging quest, for the past 2 years to have a baby. To have and enjoy what we think is the best thing in life; Family. Here is our story;
The day had finally come. We were married! We did it. It was one of the happiest day of our lives. We remember laughing, dancing and having an absolute great time with our friends and family. We remember feeling just utter joy as our futures are now one. We were the typical excited newlywed couple. We knew early on that we wanted to expand our family of 3 with a baby.
Our fertility journey began when we said "I do". We were so excited to start a family however, after 6 months of trying the excitement slowly began to wear off and frustration started to make its way into this process. We decided to seek professional assistance and quickly learned that naturally having a child was not possible. Surgery would be the first step followed by months of appointments, medications and testing. Once again we were told we still needed assistance trying to conceive. Our fertility doctor than suggested we try IUI (intrauterine insemination), but our health insurance companies wouldn’t cover this procedure. With having excitement for a family and battling the frustrations and questions of “why” we proceeded. We had an IUI performed once a month for 6 months with no prevails. Almost a year and a half later and we still hadn’t obtained our miracle of life. Finally we were told that our best chance was to have IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) performed. This procedure is rather expensive on top of the surgery, multiple doctor visits, IUI’s and not to mention all the time missed from work.
Once again our health insurance companies wouldn’t cover this procedure. After a lot of thought, we organized our finances and decided to proceed with IVF. Now we have spent 10’s of thousands of dollars but it’s all worth it to have this gift. The procedure went well, the eggs were growing, two eggs implanted and doing well. Our excitement was building. On February 14, 2017, our dreams had finally come true. We got the call that the blood work came back, and that we were pregnant. Soon after, we discovered that two embryos had become 3 (both implanted and one of them split). With the realistic possibility of 3 children excitement and concern grew. Slowly over the next couple weeks, three became two. Than two became one. Saddened by our losses but still excited, we realized our goal was still in sight. During our next ultrasound, it finally happened. We saw it, the heartbeat. Our once unobtainable goal is now a realistic possibility. The joy of a child is mere months away.
March 17th 2017. The day we’ll never forget. While looking up at that monitor in the exam room, it became apparent. Something was wrong; too much time had passed before the nurse said anything. The nurse calmly put her head down, looked at us and said “I’m so sorry. There is no heartbeat”. Our chests caved. Tears rolled down our faces. Emotionally there are no words to describe the pure emptiness that follows. The sadness swallows your soul, the anger overwhelms, but you still remain in the hole of defeat. The strength of your marriage, heart, soul and drive are tested. Almost two years and the only thing we have to show for it are debt and defeat. As every day passes we rely on our strengths and love for each other to get passed our heartbroken time. As we collect ourselves for another attempt, reality hit us in the face. Financially we cannot afford another round of IVF. With determination growing we understand that pride has to be put aside and help is not admittance of defeat but an acceptance of opportunity.
We would love another opportunity at having a child; however we’re faced with the reality of obtaining an additional $10,000 to proceed. We are asking our family and friends to help us reach our goal. Any help would mean the world to us because it will get us one step closer for a chance to grow our family. Any donation and or sharing our story with your family and friends can help us tremendously.
Thank you for taking the time to read and our story. We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support through this journey.
