THE STORY:

Hi, my name is Perry Power, and for the past 7 years I have been raising awareness around intrafamilial abuse and helping survivors to break their silence before it is too late.

Back in 2017, my alcoholic father died from a sudden heart attack (he was only 48).

And whilst I thought grief would be the hardest part of it all for me, it wasn’t.

Six or so months after he passed, I sat in my car and publicly broke my silence on Facebook (I was a fitness coach at the time and had a small online following). I spoke about being sexually abused as a child by my step-grandad, and talked about the struggles of my dad’s death.

It was that single video that changed my life forever.

Because not only did it inspire other silent survivors to break their silence (making me realise I wasn’t alone), it also led me to find out that my dad was abused as a child too…

By the same man who abused me.

And it was in that moment that I knew I had to do something.

So I left the fitness industry and temporarily parked my acting career while I figured out a way to raise awareness.

And now, 7 years later, my story has been viewed over 95 million times on social media, inspiring millions worldwide to break their silence and end the generational silence.

Off the back of my book, Breaking The Silence, I launched a publishing company (Powerful Books) to help other trauma survivors write and publish their stories.

And as of last year, I launched my production company (Powerful Films) to start turning some of these books into feature films, each one designed to create social impact…

With my story being the first to kick it all off.

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES:

The first allocation will be towards script creation and continued development until it's 'shoot-ready'.

Once the script is 'shoot-ready', funds will then be allocated towards pre-production, such as:

  • Film accountant
  • Casting director fees
  • Location hire fees
  • Lawyer fees
  • Deposits for cast, crew, and equipment
  • Insurance
  • Other miscellaneous

Once we are ready to go into production, donations will be used to pay cast and crew their salaries, cover food, and cover other expenses.

Then funds will be used for quality post-production, making sure that the picture quality, colour, and sound are up to a high standard.

And then, lastly, donations will be used towards a marketing campaign to ensure that this film has the widest reach possible.

In terms of financial targets, the first target is £150k.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER £150,000?

Reaching £150,000 gets the film made. But the real goal is a budget of £1M-£3M, which becomes much easier to unlock once the first milestone is hit.

A larger budget means more breathing room in production, better cameras and sound equipment, and the ability to put this film in the same league as other features you'd see in cinemas. It also allows for proper marketing — a full global festival run, with a BAFTA and Academy Award qualifying run in sight, so this story reaches people across all walks of life. That requires a real travel budget and the expertise of PR companies who can turn this film into a media campaign.

The higher we go beyond £150,000, the bigger the movement becomes.

But if there's one thing clear here, it's this...

No matter how much we raise, this film will be made. It's too important not to be made. I truly believe people's lives depend on it.

But to give this film a fair shot of being made well, it comes down to everyone coming together to make it happen.

Even if it's just £5, it doesn't matter.

It's you taking a stand and joining this movement to help end intrafamilial abuse and break generational silence before it's too late.

It's going to take an army of us to beat this. And we will.

See you on the other side.

Be powerful,
Perry.
