It takes a village. Support for the Lyons family.

Hello, my name is Sarah Hunt and I'm reaching out to our wonderful community asking for interim support for our dear friend Crystal Lyons. What started off as a childhood friendship, has turned into a lifelong one, and she's become a second mom to my children. She's in trouble right now.

A little over 3 years ago, Crystal was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a courageous battle (alone, thanks to COVID restrictions...how awful) and since then she has almost reached remission. However, she's more recently started struggling with new health issues. This forced her to stop working and be bedridden. While visiting various medical appointments and trying to get the answers she desperately needed for her rapidly declining health, an emergency trip to the ER discovered that her heart, liver, and kidneys aren't functioning the way they need to be. She's struggling to receive proper oxygen to supply her organs.

Crystal is currently in the care of the Ottawa Heart Institute and is suffering from heart failure. The wonderful team of Doctors are all working hard to help her stay with us. A special thank you to the doctor who called Crystal from her own home that night and told her to go to the ER! She would not have made it to the weekend without that lifesaving phone call!

Crystal is married to her soulmate and best friend James, and she is an incredible mom to Gabriel. She's an aunt, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to so many. She needs us.

I am hoping that with your support, together we can help ease some of the financial strain that she and her family are currently facing. Her husband James is in the midst of switching careers to enable him to stay closer to home and is trying to keep up with the mandatory schooling portion while he runs back and forth from the Heart Institute to be with her on a daily basis. There are fuel expenses, parking passes, and life-sustaining medications that aren't covered by any health care plans. There is also an increasing struggle to afford housing, utilities, and even groceries since she's been unable to work these last few weeks.

If at all possible, prayers of support are greatly appreciated by Crystal and her family as well.
