thank you all in advance
Let me tell you about my best friend and how it truly takes a village!
My best friend, Michele is always willing to help! When she got with Joe, he was a perfect fit, his heart was just as big as Michele’s. They have always been there to help with my problems, to be my family, to help with my kids, to be our support group(most recently, she came down for two weeks to be our rock when we lost kk) and now we need to be there for them!
In 2021, When they decided to move to Georgia I was devastated, but I knew that it was time for their next chapter. I was so excited for them to be homeowners! Michele and I kept in touch regularly and I remember when she told me that a little girl was coming to live with her from Joe’s family. I remember thinking how admirable this was. She told me she saw a picture of the little girl and heard she would be going to foster care and that she could just not let that happen.
Based only on a picture, Michele and Joe reached out to DCF and was able to get her in their care. (If you have ever dealt with dcf you know this process is not easy, drug tests, home checks, health screenings, home visits, appointments etc etc). They said that they love Casey (Joe’s cousin) and that they wanted her child to stay with family. The parents needed help and Joe and Michele stood up to help.
In September of 2022, Joe, Michele and Izzy welcome 4 year old Aurora to their home. Aurora settled in pretty quickly and was happy to have sisters, a second mom and second dad. It truly does take a village!
Fast forward almost two years, aurora is thriving! She just started 1st grade and continues to talk with her biological mom and dad. Aurora’s mom feels Joe and Michele are the best fit for her and it is now time for adoption. The adoption lawyer fees in Georgia are not waived…they will be at least $1500 plus I am hoping to collect a bit extra so they can take the kids to do something exciting to celebrate!
This family has already done so much for so many people, I think we need to do something for them!
Let’s help them collect these funds so they can start this next chapter free of financial burden
