We live in Austin, Texas and have been married for 5 years. We knew from the start we were going to have a beautiful life together - supported by a loving extended family, incredible friendships, an amazing furry side-kick named Bear, and a strength that can only come from our Faith. As we continue down our life path, the idea of growing our family has always been a thought that makes us anxious but also very excited.
Why all the anxiety? Well, we have known for several years that having biological children just isn't in the cards. When I {Raquel} was just 20 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition which resulted in malignant tumor removal as well as an emergency hysterectomy. I literally woke up one morning to the doctor telling me, “We had to take everything. Children won't be possible."
Knowing our "situation" from the beginning of our relationship, TJ and I have come to whole-heartedly believe that adoption is God's plan to grow our family. Through lots of prayer and, of course, financial help, we hope to bring home Baby C. sometime in the near future!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfundraiser. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. With your donation, you'll help us get closer to our financial goal so that we can get the adoption process rolling with a home study, starting costs, travel costs, etc. You will also help us fulfill our dream of becoming parents to a child that needs all the love we have to give.
