Hello, this page has been generated to support SAPOL Sergeant Leonard 'Lenny' Carlier.
We appreciate you taking a moment to read and understand his story and his cause.
Lenny has been a dedicated member of SAPOL for over 20 years, he is also a devoted husband, loving father of two teenage boys and a invaluable friend to many work colleagues, sporting team members and other associates.
In 2021, Lenny was subject to disciplinary charges by SAPOL. These charges and the allegation of excessive use of force, related to when Lenny was performing his duties as a sworn Police officer and supervisor. Lenny diligently completed the highly difficult arrest of a violent, drug affected, non-compliant person. Furthermore, during this incident Lenny was in fact assaulted himself.
Following a review of this matter, The Police Association (PASA- Union) declined to support Lenny with any legal funding and subsequently since this time, he has had to fund his own legal defence at a very significant cost. This internal SAPOL matter has now been ongoing for over three and a half years.
The cost of this situation cannot be measured, as not only has Lenny and his family suffered the mental strain and pressure of this unfair process, but they have also had to sell several large assets, depleted bank accounts and completely
modify their way of living.
The Carlier family are exhausted, both mentally and financially, as the pressure continues to mount. Lenny is a man of pride, principles and honour...... but he is losing the financial battle, all avenues have been drained and he finally concedes that he and his family need help.
Any money donated will be used to fund Lenny with legal support to continue his defence against the internal SAPOL charges. Without significant support, Lenny will have no other options but to either legally self represent, or to plea to the charges and lose his loved, decorated career.
Any money you are willing to donate would be immensely appreciated by Lenny and his family... and if you're unable to contribute, a share with your family or friends would mean the world.
It takes a strong person to reach out for help when the tide is against you and you feel like the walls are caving in....... stay strong, weather the storm and surround yourself with good people. Justice should prevail!!!!
