Hi friends, family, and kind strangers! I'm Isobel. I hope you'd be willing to read my go fund me and consider helping me pursue my dream!
Goal:
$15,000
Why I'm reaching out:
I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to study psychology for my undergraduate degree in Ireland, at the University of Galway, a dream I’ve been pursuing and praying for. I'm going with my best friend who will be pursuing their masters at the same university! Therefore, I'm planning on transferring as a sophomore to the University of Galway. However, to make this dream a reality, I need your help if possible.
As a passionate and driven individual, I’ve always wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives by understanding the complexities of the human mind. Ireland, with its rich history in psychology and world-renowned educational institutions, is the perfect place for me to expand my knowledge and grow both personally and academically. It offers the unique chance to study in an environment that nurtures innovation, creativity, and critical thinking. I also had the amazing opportunity to visit Ireland previously and absolutely fell in love. I know getting my undergraduate there would give me a rich cultural experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Here's my best friend and I!
Even as a passionate worker and having completed two years of PSEO, doing high school and college at the same time, affording the cost alone for my first year in Ireland is not possible. The cost as a transfer student is unfortunately higher than what I have with the cost of living and moving to Ireland as well. I'm hoping to, at least for my first year, take out the least amount of loans as possible. I will be working all Summer full time and searching for a job on campus as soon as I arrive in Ireland. This means I will be able to save up more for the next two years but getting started for the first year is where I need help.
I will be taking out as much as I'm given in federal loans, which for this last year was $6,500, but this still leaves $13,500 I'd need to pay out of pocket for the academic year just for tuition before I register. This doesn't account either for living costs which the school estimates would be $1,200 per month for rent, food, travel expenses, etc. So in all after my federal loans I still have $23,100 I need to pay for out of pocket for the academic year. As I work full-time this summer I hope to pay for a chunk of this which is why my goal to raise is $15,000.
What your gifts would help with:
- Tuition
- Rent
- Food
- Travel
- Amazing cultural and academic experience:)
I hesitated to ask my community but my grandpa suggested I do because it's such an important step in my life. Anything helps and I'm so thankful for this opportunity!
With heartfelt thanks and appreciation,
Isobel <3
