Hi all! My name is Isabel, and I’m 14 years old. In 2027, I’ve been given an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Borneo with Camps International for a four-week expedition.

During this journey, I’ll live and work alongside local communities, helping to improve daily life through vital projects such as building classrooms, community centres, medical facilities, and homes. I’ll also be involved in hands-on work like painting, plastering, bricklaying, and installing clean water systems—things that can make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives.

I’m especially excited to learn about and experience the traditional culture of Borneo, to understand their way of life, and to connect with the people who call this incredible place home.

A huge part of the expedition will also involve supporting the environment. I’ll be helping to combat deforestation in one of Borneo’s oldest jungles by growing and replanting native trees—an essential step in preserving this precious ecosystem for the future.

One of the experiences I’m most excited about is a 5-day trek through the jungle. During this adventure, I’ll be putting up my own hammock each night, cooking my own meals, and learning how to live sustainably in the rainforest. It’s going to be challenging, but I can’t wait for it!
