For those of you who don't know, my name is Isaac Papineau. I'm a freshman at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Over spring break this semester I am going on a service immersion trip organized by Carroll's campus ministry department. Each year they go out with groups of students in order to "better understand the realities and needs of people with economic, educational, cultural and social challenges through a lens of Catholic social teaching and the gospel."
"This trip will give participants an opportunity to be immersed in the Blackfeet culture and learn about ways in which poverty affects this community. Participants will work with kids at the De La Salle Blackfeet school and spend time with De La Salle Christian Brothers and their volunteers learning about the Blackfeet culture and Catholic Social Teaching through the commitment of the Blackfeet in offering a faith based education to their children and the commitment of the Christian Brothers and the teachers of the school."
Given the choice between the Blackfoot reservation and inner city Chicago, I chose to go Browning because the focus on service in a school speaks to my interests in both teaching and working with children.
The catch is that with the job I'm working I can't pay for both this trip and tuition, so I'm asking for your help to make this opportunity not only possible, but a reality. So, at the risk of sounding cliche please consider making a donation and sharing this GoFundMe with your friends; anything helps.
