Isaac's fundraiser for a school sensory area

Donation protected
Update: Whilst the original amount we were aiming for has been far surpassed please do keep donating. The school are now able to start dreaming big rather than just look at cheaper individual items which is amazing as sensory equipment can be so expensive, and they are now going to transform a whole room into a sensory room! Thank you all so much! (Ellie, who is listed as beneficiary, is on the PTFA and will withdraw the money directly into their account).

Isaac is raising money for a sensory area at Linton Infants School as a thank you for all the support and care that they have given him. (The staff are all so passionate about, and determined to, support each individual pupil.) To raise money Isaac is asking people to sponsor him to have his photo taken with a sign for every street in Linton, which is rather a lot! He will do this on the week commencing 13th July, weather permitting.

Some children really struggle with the noise, constant activity and demands of a classroom environment, and this can all be exacerbated by additional  things such as the wrong type of lighting or temperature, or too many pictures on the wall. Trying to process everything going on can cause sensory overload. For some children this might come out as a meltdown or they get so over-excited that they cannot control their own behaviour. For others the feelings can be bottled up until they get home, but they are still there. Whatever way it comes out, when the child is in that state it stops them from being able to focus, learn or reach their full potential.

Having a sensory space will give a child somewhere to go where they can have some time out from all the stimuli to relax and regulate their emotions. They can then return to the classroom in a state where they are able and ready to learn. Some children may need regular times each day to do this, other children may only need it if there is something upsetting going on in their life at that time.

Below is our wishlist showing how we will use any money donated. It has been compiled with the SENCo from the Infants School. All money will be withdrawn to go directly to the PTFA account and not into my bank account. We will be very grateful for whatever you are able to donate and it will make such a difference to the lives of the children at the school.
