On 13th September Isla Cooper, Hannan Ali and Nick Gorton will be walking 25km across London, taking part in the Thames Bridge Trek https://www.ultrachallenge.com/thames-bridges-trek/ to raise money for the Ironmongers' Hall preservation fund.
Ironmongers' Hall celebrates its centenary this year and we want to make sure it survives another 100 years! So we are raising money for the hall preservation fund, to pay for restoration, renovation and maintenance of the fabulous building.
Help preserve one of the City of London’s most remarkable historic treasures: Ironmongers’ Hall. Now celebrating its centenary, this Grade II-listed masterpiece stands as the only livery hall built between the wars, designed in a Tudor/Jacobean Revival style to embody centuries of tradition and craftsmanship. From its richly carved woodwork and stained glass by Reginald Bell, to the ironwork of Bainbridge Reynolds and sculpture by George Alexander, every corner of the Hall reflects the skill and artistry of its age. Yet with such beauty comes great responsibility—ongoing maintenance and careful conservation are essential to ensure that this extraordinary building continues to inspire for generations to come.
By sponsoring our walkers in the Thames Bridge Trek, you will be contributing directly to the upkeep of a hall that has witnessed the history of the Ironmongers’ Company since its dedication in 1925. This is more than just a building—it is a living piece of heritage, purpose-built to host centuries-old livery traditions and to serve as a gathering place within the architectural heart of London. Surrounded by landmarks such as the Barbican and St Giles Cripplegate, Ironmongers’ Hall anchors the past within the modern city. Your generosity will help us protect this unique home of pageantry, fellowship, and history, ensuring its story is preserved for the next hundred years and beyond. Every contribution helps protect this remarkable building, helping to safeguard one of London’s most distinctive livery halls for the future.
