Ironman for Vasculitis
Tax deductible
Shortly before completing my first Ironman triathlon in 2015 I was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease called Vasculitis. This disease causes inflammation in the blood vessels. For me, the inflammation was limited to the vessels in my nose and sinuses. Treatment of the disease requires steroids and chemotherapy to stop the inflammation and turn off the immune response.
I am currently in remission and training for a very difficult Ironman race. There are days when I feel too weak to train, days when my body hurts, days when I doubt that I can recover the fitness that I worked so hard for before falling ill.
To improve my motivation, I have decided to ask for donations to support the Vasculitis Foundation. They support research and train doctors so that this disease gets diagnoses faster, before it becomes fatal, and works to improve treatment.
Please consider a donation and hold me accountable in my training and recovery!
Thanks,
Abby
