Ironday Challenge

On June 10th I’ll be attempting an Ironday Challenge in aid of some of the voluntary rescue services that were there for the community of Creeslough during and following the tragedy last October.

The Challenge will involve a 3.4km swim from Ards to Downings, 187km cycle to Errigal car park at Dunlewy and finishing with a 42.2km run that will start with climbing Errigal and crossing the seven sisters before finishing in Creeslough.

The benefiting charities will be Critical, Donegal Mountain Rescue Team and Search And Rescue Dogs Association. Any donations received will be distributed equally between the above charities.

Critical

"Critical fund the life-saving kits, equipment and vehicles needed by their team of highly qualified Volunteer Emergency Medical Responders who provide prehospital emergency care to critically ill and injured patients in communities all over Ireland. Their unique expertise and equipment mean they can provide life-saving emergency care wherever needed, like at the side of the road or in homes, schools, farms or workplaces across the country.

Funds raised from this fundraiser will help Critical to expand and provide critical care to even more communities in Ireland."

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team

"DMRT provide an emergency response, remote environment and extreme terrain, search and rescue service for the County of Donegal in Ireland. The team is comprised completely of volunteers who are on 24 hour call, 365 days of the year."

Search And Rescue Dogs Association

‘’We are the only voluntary Search Dog Team Asset on the Northern Ireland Search and Rescue (NISAR) assets register for Emergency Call-Outs. We provide Specialist Search Dogs in the search for missing person(s) in Mountains, Water (Drowned Victim Recovery), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR), Cadaver, Open Areas and Trailing.’’
