COVID Intubation Box, Droplet Barrier Spray Shield

Friends, the South Texas medical community originally reached out to our company with a urgent need during this Corona virus pandemic to produce a device to protect front-line medical workers in hospitals treating COVID 19 patients. The device is called an Intubation box or Aerosol box. The box is an inexpensive reusable personal protection device that functions as a protective shield between patients and healthcare providers. It is a new concept that has quickly become an imperative addition to their necessary PPE but we are told existing designs and solutions are proving deficient when used for actual cases and they are looking to us for help.
After consulting with Anesthesiologists and Respiratory Therapists who are currently treating COVID 19 patients we made some significant design improvements over existing solutions on the market. We currently have two designs which we just refer to as Model "A" and Model "B". Our boxes are in use protecting healthcare workers in three hospitals in San Antonio! Well after a couple of weeks creating these we were asked to also come up with a barrier for workers doing COVID-19 testing (or really any testing/swabbing/etc. of contagious patients) by creating Sneeze Shields but with disposable dry box arm sleeves. So we came up with our Spray Shield or Droplet Barrier design. These are also now in use by Urgent Care facilities doing testing here in South Texas!
The COVID-19 virus remains highly contagious and all three of these products serve as additional layers of protection when aerosol generating procedures are performed.
Intubation Box / Aerosol Box:
The primary use of the box is by an Anesthesiologist when performing endotracheal intubation on a patient with known or suspected COVID-19. Intubation is necessary as part of the process of placing patients on respirators or breathing machines to assist lung function due to the virus. Intubation is considered an extremely high-risk procedure for medical staff in the OR or ICU. This box will reduce this risk by containing the aerosols generated by the patient during the intubation procedure.
Spray Shield / Droplet Barrier / Sneeze Guard
This shield allows health care workers to perform swab testing and other diagnostics on contagious patients with an additional layer of security. The large plexiglas wall with pass-through sleeves allows contact-less interaction with less PPE and reduced risk by inhibiting exposure from droplets expelled by the patient from coughing and sneezing.
Our Background
Prior to this pandemic our company Living Light Shows, focused solely on designing and fabricating displays for musically synchronized Christmas light shows for commercial venues. Our latest project, Lights Alive! is a nearly mile-long Christmas light drive-thru venue in San Antonio, TX, that required many of the same robotic manufacturing machines and plastic forming expertise that is needed to produce these products. Unhappy sitting on the sidelines during this pandemic as a "non-essential" business, we want to put these machines, our staff, and our expertise to use for our healthcare community but need your help.
Time is of the essence and we are looking for donations to help ramp up our production capabilities as well as subsidize the costs of building these units and getting them into the hands of hospitals and medical facilities in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston hospitals as quickly as possible. The funds will be used on modified tooling, jig creation, materials, labor and distribution/shipping costs. We are also open to expanding production to service other communities as funds allow.
