My friends and I are raising money for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle because we want to help our local community. Many people have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Workers who live paycheck to paycheck are experiencing the most hardships, as they cannot provide for themselves and their families. This problem impacts seniors and children as well. 10.5% of North Carolina’s senior citizens experience food insecurity. In our state alone, more than 118,000 children need free or reduced lunches. Furthermore, 1 in 5 kids is at risk of hunger. A high school student beginning online schooling would find it hard to prioritize education when they are unsure about their next meal.
This GoFundMe drive is raising money for Inter Faith Food Shuttle , a nonprofit that aims to end hunger in our community, by supplying food to those who don’t have access to meals. This organization distributes nearly 6 million pounds of food per year across seven North Carolina counties. Please join us in making a difference! Even a small donation of $12, for example, can buy two 12-packs, or 24, cans of vegetables. We will ensure that all of your donations go directly to struggling families in our community.

Nation Hahn, an Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Board member shares, "economic downturns always hit our most vulnerable populations first. Economic downturns this sudden, paired with a public health crisis, create an unprecedented need for organizations such as Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to meet immediate, emergency needs for families across our service region. The work of food banks will always be vital, but in moments such as this the work is essential to the daily lives of tens of thousands of our neighbors." Hahn perfectly shares the utter importance that food banks are amidst our economy collapse and recent layoffs of millions across the US. CEO of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Board, Bethann James, shares, “We are beyond grateful. But the need is still growing and we are more reliant than ever on the community to help continue to fund our critical initiatives.” With a growing demand for meals by families in Wake and Durham counties, and all across North Carolina, donations are ever the more important to meet this new wave of demand.
If you are in a position to contribute and you have the means to take action, we hope you will donate today. No dollar amount is too small. 100% of donations (less than 2.9% and $0.30 per donation transaction fee) will go directly to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. The Food Shuttle operates in a seven-county service area in central North Carolina, including Wake, Durham, Johnston, Orange, Chatham, Nash, and Edgecombe counties
Thank you for your kindness in helping everyone get a warm meal during this devastating pandemic.
I worked with Aida Guo, Divya Palasamudram, Carly Barello, Lavanya Gupta, Pranathi Chintala, Keerthana Vemparala, and Aditi Nayak. Without them, this wouldn't have been possible.
