Friends and family, many of you know Zeke has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. We haven’t shared a lot about his condition over the last year and a half, but as we are asking for donations, we wanted to explain more about what’s going on and why we needed to start a gofundme.
Zeke has the most extreme form of Cerebral Palsy which affects his ability to move all limbs, control his neck, and even the muscles responsible for breathing and swallowing—he also developed epilepsy which delayed his progress even more. He is currently on a feeding tube due to the inability to control his neck muscles and coordinate swallowing. We love our current PT, OT, and speech therapists, but there is an opportunity to try an advanced program in Denver that our insurance does not cover. The program can be found at https://napacenter.org/.
We have met families and have seen many testimonies online that after the 3 week intensive many children experience large leaps in ability’s. We are really hoping that it will help Zeke’s neck control as he needs to be able to support his own head before he can do the other basic things to gain some function in the rest of his body.
The funds will be used to pay for the program, housing, travel, and the lack of income from not refinishing furniture. Stuff in Seattle will still function during these weeks, but may have a significant decrease in inventory. Currently working on solutions for that, but for now we need to get the funds to go to Denver for the three weeks at the end of February and beginning of March.
We are so thankful for the support we received the first month of Zekes life while he was in the NICU, so many people came together to help us through the most difficult time period of our lives. We are asking for help again to hopefully see Zeke progress, be able to start holding his own head up, and give him the best opportunities we can.
We understand not everyone can give, but prayers for his development and growth would also mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read this and a huge thank you in advance for anyone who is able to donate.
