SOGGETTO PROPONENTE
L’ Associazione Culturale Mama Alma è stata attiva in Italia per diversi anni proponendo diverse iniziative sociali e culturali nel proprio quartiere (Forlanini, Milano) e organizzando svariate manifestazioni e festival musicali. Ad oggi, il suo Presidente, trasferitosi da due anni a Dakar, in Senegal, ha deciso di proseguire l’attività dell’Associazione sulla realtà territoriale africana.
CONTESTO
Il Senegal, e in particolare la sua capitale Dakar, sono un paese in continua evoluzione. La recente scoperta del petrolio al largo delle coste dakarine ha scatenato una corsa a nuovi investimenti e la città sta letteralmente scoppiando, invasa da frotte di investitori stranieri e da nuovi cantieri edili che sorgono ovunque.
Nonostante questa ventata di modernità è ancora elevato il numero di persone che vivono in condizioni di indigenza dovuta prevalentemente alla mancanza di infrastrutture adeguate e di posti di lavoro retribuiti dignitosamente.
OBIETTIVI
1. Rendere operativa l’Associazione garantendole una sede “fisica” nel comune di Ouakam, uno dei distretti amministrativi di Dakar.
2. Realizzare un progetto a favore dei numerosi bambini di strada, i cosiddetti talibè.
3. Realizzare un Festival artistico-musicale in prossimità della spiaggia di Ouakam per “ridonarla” ai propri cittadini.
COSA VOGLIAMO FARE
1. Far arrivare a Dakar, dall’Italia, un container con le strutture e i materiali della ex-sede italiana dell’associazione, nonché beni di prima necessità quali vestiti, scarpe, ect frutto di donazioni e di una raccolta effettuata in Italia. Tra i beni in dotazione all’associazione che verrebbero spediti, vi è anche un’intera cucina componibile, comprensiva di vettovaglie, che sarebbe funzionale alle attività da svolgersi a Ouakam (preparazione pasti).
2. Passeggiando per le strade di qualsiasi quartiere di Dakar è impossibile non imbattersi in gruppi di bambini che ti chiedono la carità. Questi bimbi, detti talibè, sono generalmente orfani o abbandonati alla nascita o figli di famiglie indigenti che vengono affidati e “accuditi” dai cosiddetti “marabout”, figure religiose non ufficialmente riconosciute, che li ospitano in spazi spesso fatiscenti, chiamati Daare (o scuole coraniche). Questi bimbi, che generalmente hanno tra i 4 e i 15 anni, crescono per strada facendo l’elemosina, senza alcuna assistenza sanitaria e senza un’istruzione scolastica. Questo fa sì che, raggiunta l’età semi-adulta, questi ragazzi si ritrovino completamente emarginati all’interno della società che li circonda. Cosa fare allora per poter migliorare la loro condizione? L’obiettivo dell’associazione è quello di creare una Giornata (“Siamo tutti bambini”), a cadenza mensile, in cui gruppi di diversi talibè saranno “ospitati” da una scuola locale dove potranno consumare un pasto e giocare insieme ai loro coetanei. Con tale progetto si vuole innanzitutto sensibilizzare gli adulti, i genitori dei bimbi scolarizzati verso la grande difficoltà di integrazione che affrontano giornalmente i talibè. Nella Giornata “Siamo tutti bambini”, potranno essere donati, direttamente dagli scolari ai talibè, vestiti e giocattoli superflui. Verranno organizzate delle attività ludiche che coinvolgeranno in egual maniera bambini scolarizzati e talibè e faciliteranno l’amicizia tra di loro. Il pasto comune sarà il suggello di una Giornata all’insegna di un’integrazione reale tra i bambini.
3. La città di Dakar ha una conformazione geografica particolare: si tratta infatti di una penisola che si affaccia sull’Oceano Atlantico con tre differenti litoranee. Una a nord, una a ovest (la più estesa) e una a sud-est. Oggi, lungo tutto il perimetro costiero la cementificazione (spesso frutto di attività speculative) è diventata insostenibile. Con l’avvento dell’amministrazione del nuovo Presidente del Senegal, insediatosi nell’aprile 2024, le cose stanno cambiando e molti permessi di costruzione sono stati revocati, nonché fermati i lavori di diversi cantieri già in essere. Nel comune di Ouakam, dove si trova una delle più belle e, un tempo frequentate, spiagge di Dakar si vuole realizzare un Festival di due giornate con musica, conferenze e esposizioni artistiche di pittori, scultori e artigiani locali. Durante le due giornate verrà fatta , con il coinvolgimento di volontari, anche un’operazione di Set Setal, ovvero verranno piantati, a ridosso della spiaggia, diversi semi di arbusti e piante per ridare lustro ad un ambiente idilliaco che stava subendo una fase di deturpamento. Oltre che essere due giornate di festa e di protezione ambientale, saranno anche un modo per far riappropriare i cittadini della loro spiaggia.

L’Association Culturelle Mama Alma est active en Italie depuis plusieurs années, proposant diverses initiatives sociales et culturelles dans son quartier (Forlanini, Milan) et organisant divers événements et festivals de musique. A ce jour, son Président, qui a déménagé à Dakar, au Sénégal, il y a deux ans, a décidé de poursuivre l’activité de l’Association sur la réalité territoriale africaine.
CONTEXTE
Le Sénégal, et plus particulièrement sa capitale Dakar, est un pays en constante évolution. La récente découverte de pétrole au large de Dakar a déclenché une ruée vers de nouveaux investissements et la ville est littéralement pleine à craquer, envahie par une foule d’investisseurs étrangers et de nouveaux chantiers de construction qui poussent un peu partout.
Malgré cette vague de modernité, le nombre de personnes vivant dans des conditions de pauvreté est encore élevé, principalement en raison du manque d’infrastructures adéquates et d’emplois décemment rémunérés.
OBJECTIFS
1. Rendre l’Association opérationnelle en lui garantissant un siège « physique » dans la commune de Ouakam, l’un des arrondissements administratifs de Dakar.
2. Réaliser un projet en faveur des nombreux enfants de rue, les soi-disant talibè.
3. Créer un festival artistico-musical près de la plage de Ouakam pour « le rendre » à ses citoyens.
CE QUE NOUS VOULONS FAIRE
1. Apporter à Dakar, depuis l’Italie, un conteneur avec les structures et les matériaux de l’ancien siège italien de l’association, ainsi que des produits de première nécessité tels que des vêtements, des chaussures, etc. résultant de dons et d’une collecte effectuée en Italie. Parmi les biens fournis à l’association qui seraient expédiés, il y a aussi toute une cuisine modulaire, y compris des provisions, qui serait fonctionnelle aux activités à réaliser à Ouakam (préparation des repas).
2. En se promenant dans les rues de n’importe quel quartier de Dakar, il est impossible de ne pas tomber sur des groupes d’enfants qui vous demandent l’aumône. Ces enfants, appelés talibè, sont généralement des orphelins ou abandonnés à la naissance ou des enfants de familles pauvres qui sont confiés et « soignés » par les soi-disant « marabouts », figures religieuses officieusement reconnues, qui les hébergent dans des espaces souvent délabrés, appelés Daaras (ou écoles coraniques). Ces enfants, qui ont généralement entre 4 et 15 ans, grandissent dans la rue en mendiant, sans aucun soin de santé et sans éducation scolaire. Cela signifie qu’une fois qu’ils atteignent l’âge semi-adulte, ces enfants se retrouvent complètement marginalisés au sein de la société qui les entoure. Alors, que peut-on faire pour améliorer leur état ? L’objectif de l’association est de créer une Journée (« Nous sommes tous des enfants »), sur une base mensuelle, au cours de laquelle des groupes de différents talibès seront « accueillis » par une école locale où ils pourront prendre un repas et jouer avec leurs pairs. Avec ce projet, nous voulons tout d’abord sensibiliser les adultes, parents d’enfants scolarisés, à la grande difficulté d’intégration à laquelle les talibès sont confrontés au quotidien. Lors de la Journée « Nous sommes tous des enfants », les écoliers peuvent faire don directement de vêtements et de jouets superflus aux talibès. Des activités ludiques seront organisées qui impliqueront de la même manière les enfants scolarisés et talibès et faciliteront l’amitié entre eux. Le repas commun sera le sceau d’une Journée dédiée à une réelle intégration parmi les enfants.
3. La ville de Dakar a une conformation géographique particulière : il s’agit en fait d’une presqu’île surplombant l’océan Atlantique avec trois côtes différentes. Un au nord, un à l’ouest (le plus grand) et un au sud-est. Aujourd’hui, sur l’ensemble du périmètre côtier, la surconstruction (souvent le résultat d’activités spéculatives) est devenue insoutenable. Avec l’avènement de l’administration du nouveau président du Sénégal, qui a pris ses fonctions en avril 2024, les choses changent et de nombreux permis de construire ont été révoqués, ainsi que les travaux de plusieurs chantiers déjà en place ont cessé. Dans la commune de Ouakam, où se trouve l’une des plus belles plages de Dakar, un festival de deux jours sera organisé avec de la musique, des conférences et des expositions artistiques de peintres, sculpteurs et artisans locaux. Pendant les deux jours, avec l’implication de bénévoles, une opération Set Setal sera également réalisée, c’est-à-dire que plusieurs graines d’arbustes et de plantes seront plantées à proximité de la plage pour redonner de l’éclat à un environnement idyllique qui subissait une phase de défiguration. En plus d’être deux jours de fête et de protection de l’environnement, ils seront aussi un moyen de faire reprendre possession de leur plage aux citoyens.

Mama Alma Cultural Association has been active in Italy for several years proposing various social and cultural initiatives in its neighborhood (Forlanini, Milan) and organizing various events and music festivals. To date, its President, who moved to Dakar, Senegal, two years ago, has decided to continue the Association's activity on the African territorial reality.
CONTEXT
Senegal, and especially its capital Dakar, is a country that is constantly evolving. The recent discovery of oil off the coast of Dakar has sparked a rush for new investments and the city is literally bursting at the seams, invaded by droves of foreign investors and new construction sites springing up everywhere.
Despite this wave of modernity, the number of people living in conditions of poverty is still high, mainly due to the lack of adequate infrastructure and decently paid jobs.
OBJECTIVES
1. To make the Association operational by guaranteeing it a "physical" headquarters in the municipality of Ouakam, one of the administrative districts of Dakar.
2. Carry out a project in favor of the many street children, the so-called talibè.
3. To create an arts and music festival near the beach of Ouakam to "give it back" to its citizens.
WHAT WE WANT TO DO
1. To bring to Dakar, from Italy, a container with the structures and materials of the former Italian headquarters of the association, as well as basic necessities such as clothes, shoes, etc. resulting from donations and a collection carried out in Italy. Among the goods supplied to the association that would be shipped, there is also an entire modular kitchen, including provisions, which would be functional to the activities to be carried out in Ouakam (meal preparation).
2. Walking through the streets of any neighborhood in Dakar, it is impossible not to come across groups of children asking you for charity. These children, called talibè, are generally orphans or abandoned at birth or children of poor families who are entrusted and "cared for" by the so-called "marabouts", unofficially recognized religious figures, who host them in often dilapidated spaces, called Daare (or Koranic schools). These children, who are generally between 4 and 15 years old, grow up on the street begging, without any health care and without a school education. This means that, once they reach semi-adulthood, these children find themselves completely marginalized within the society around them. So what can be done to improve their condition? The goal of the association is to create a Day ("We are all children"), on a monthly basis, in which groups of different talibè will be "hosted" by a local school where they can have a meal and play together with their peers. With this project we want first of all to raise awareness among adults, parents of schooled children towards the great difficulty of integration that the talibè face on a daily basis. On the "We are all children" Day, superfluous clothes and toys can be donated directly from schoolchildren to the talibè. Playful activities will be organized that will involve schooled and talibè children in the same way and will facilitate friendship between them. The common meal will be the seal of a Day dedicated to real integration among children.
3. The city of Dakar has a particular geographical conformation: it is in fact a peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with three different coastlines. One to the north, one to the west (the largest) and one to the south-east. Today, along the entire coastal perimeter, overbuilding (often the result of speculative activities) has become unsustainable. With the advent of the administration of the new President of Senegal, who took office in April 2024, things are changing and many building permits have been revoked, as well as the work of several construction sites already in place has stopped. In the municipality of Ouakam, where one of the most beautiful and once popular beach of Dakar is located, a two-day festival is to be held with music, conferences and artistic exhibitions by local painters, sculptors and artisans. During the two days, with the involvement of volunteers, a Set Setal operation will also be carried out; several seeds of shrubs and plants will be planted close to the beach to restore luster to an idyllic environment that was undergoing a phase of disfigurement. In addition to being two days of celebration and environmental protection, they will also be a way to make citizens regain possession of their beach.
