We at Inspire To Be hope that our Youtube channel, My Quarantine Cookbook, has brought a little joy into your life. Laura's House is a non-profit organization providing domestic violence related services to the residents of Orange County and beyond. Over the past 25 years, Laura's House has provided shelter and support services to over 4500 individuals and counseling, legal, education and prevention services to over 50,000 individuals.
Now, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, victims of domestic violence are in more danger than ever. They are trapped inside for weeks on end, subject to abuse from the people they live with. That’s why Laura’s House is continuing to serve in new ways, maintaining their 24-hour hotline and one-on-one legal counseling, while also holding webinars on legal services and how to stay safe at home. Inspire To Be is a club at San Clemente High School oriented around community service and supporting high school students in developing the communication and networking skills necessary to be an active member of today’s society. Over the last three years, we have established a number of projects that have in turn benefited our community and those surrounding us, such as Tutorial by Inspire To Be (a free tutoring service at the public library) and the Wounded Warriors Project Charity Show. With our large following, we have also been given the opportunity to help build the special needs garden at SCHS, run a voter registration drive for upperclassmen students, and support organizations like Laura’s House, the Orangewood Foundation, and Family Assistance Ministries. Inspire To Be was in the middle of setting up its third annual Love For Laura’s House Supply Drive when the school closure and shelter-in-place orders hit. But that doesn’t mean we have given up. We, too, are trying to find new ways to fulfill our commitment to Laura’s House and continue serving our community--but we entirely depend on your generosity. We are beyond grateful for your support.
