Hi. My name is Mary Schalmo, most recently also know as Grammy.

I have been curious what I would look like with a shaved head but I never had an inspirational reason to do it, until now! On May 8, 2025 my first grandchild, Avery Rae, entered this world at only 25 weeks. She continues to progress and grow with the excellent care she is receiving in NICU at Manning Children's Hospital in New Orleans.

My son Douglas and his wife Emily live in Hattiesburg Mississippi, 100 miles from the hospital. I hope to raise funds to support them as they care for their daughter. Donations will go toward Avery’s ongoing medical expenses, travel and transportation costs, food and lodging, and other unexpected out-of-pocket expenses that come with extended hospital stays far from home.

If I reach my goal of $5,825 (chosen as it is Avery’s birthday 5.8.25) I will shave my head and donate my nearly 2 feet of hair to Wigs For Kids.
