INSIEME PER I DIRITTI UMANI: CE N'È ANCORA BISOGNO!

Stiamo raccogliendo donazioni per portare in Texas alcuni nostri volontari che operano gratuitamente in difesa dei diritti umani.

In molte aree del mondo ancora oggi anche i diritti più basilari, come il diritto alla vita, sono largamente violati.

COALIT (www.coalit.net), associazione senza fini di lucro, si batte dal 1997 per attuare un vero cambiamento in difesa dei diritti umani e civili di ogni individuo.

Una sfida che portiamo avanti con orgoglio.

CHI SIAMO.

ARIANNA BALLOTTA, sociologa, interprete e traduttrice, è presidente di COALIT fin dalla sua fondazione nel 1997. Collabora a vario titolo con diverse organizzazioni ed associazioni, in vari Paesi del mondo, che operano affinché sia possibile la piena realizzazione dei diritti umani, politici, civili, economici, sociali e culturali di ogni individuo.

CHIARA SILVA, libera imprenditrice, è membro del Consiglio Direttivo di COALIT. Opera attivamente nell'ambito dell'associazione organizzando eventi e facendo formazione, nonché soprattutto corrispondendo con diversi condannati a morte americani, che visita quando possibile. Ha assistito a due esecuzioni.

STILJAN RROKAJ, docente di storia e filosofia, è membro del Consiglio Direttivo dell'associazione. Si occupa di diritti umani e pena di morte da circa 20 anni ed è uno strenuo sostenitore dell'art. 26.2 della Dichiarazione Universale dei Diritti Umani, che definisce chiaramente il ruolo degli educatori e secondo cui: “L’istruzione deve essere indirizzata al pieno sviluppo della personalità umana ed al rafforzamento del rispetto dei diritti umani e delle libertà fondamentali”.

GIULIA PELLIZZARI, studentessa universitaria di psicologia, partecipa ad incontri sui diritti umani nelle scuole superiori, corrisponde con un detenuto nel braccio della morte e gestisce la sezione della corrispondenza. Rappresenta le “nuove leve” dell’associazione, impegnandosi nel cercare di diffondere conoscenza ai suoi coetanei. Rappresenta lei stessa un esempio per la sua generazione.

PERCHÈ ABBIAMO BISOGNO DI AIUTO.

Per scelta dei soci fondatori già nel 1997, i membri di COALIT sono tutti volontari e non percepiscono – né mai percepiranno - alcunché per gli incarichi quotidiani che svolgono sul territorio nazionale ed all'estero. In un mondo in cui tutto è diventato più complicato, anche il nostro lavoro lo è diventato.

Le motivazioni sono diverse: le guerre in corso, la nuova crociata americana contro i migranti e le deportazioni in atto, le persecuzioni nei confronti delle minoranze e le conseguenti incarcerazioni di massa (gli USA hanno il più alto tasso di incarcerazione al mondo, con enormi disparità razziali),

fino ad arrivare all'applicazione della pena capitale.

Quest'ultima comporta gravissime conseguenze per le comunità, come il disorientamento e il disgregamento delle famiglie, e del tessuto sociale nel suo insieme.

Il nostro operato consiste nel collaborare con le famiglie,

con le associazioni,

le comunità religiose e le realtà locali, al fine di educare alla legalità,

alla prevenzione del crimine, al rispetto dei diritti umani e civili, e alla definizione di strategie comuni (USA – UE e oltre).

TOGETHER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS: THERE IS STILL A NEED!

We are collecting donations to bring to Texas some of our volunteers who work for free in defense of human rights. In many areas of the world even the most basic rights, such as the right to life, are still widely violated.

COALIT (ICADP) is a not-for-profit association that has been fighting since 1997 to effect real change in defense of the human and civil rights of every individual.

We do believe that to effect real change in defense of human and civil rights, individuals, organizations, and institutions must work together. This includes raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, and providing support to those whose rights are being violated.

A challenge we proudly carry on.

WHO WE ARE

ARIANNA BALLOTTA is a sociologist, freelance interpreter and translator. President of the ICADP since its foundation in 1997, she is a passionate human and civil rights defender. Her human rights activism has spanned more than three decades and she has become heavily involved in global humanitarian efforts in reacting to injustice, abusive treatment, violence and discrimination of any kind.

CHIARA SILVA, a freelance entrepreneur, has been a member of the Board of Directors of the ICADP for many years. She has repeatedly described her encounter with the association as “enlightening and engaging as well as very instructive, both from the point of view of knowledge about human rights and the death penalty, but especially from the human point of view.” Since then she has been actively working within the association organizing events and doing training, as well as especially corresponding with several US death row inmates, whom she visits whenever possible. She witnessed two executions.

STILJAN RROKAJ, a history and philosophy teacher, is a member of the Board of the ICADP. He has been dealing with human rights and capital punishment for about 20 years and is a strong supporter of Article 26.2 of the UDHR which states the role of educators in achieving the social order called for by the declaration, i.e.: “Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms”. His students love his lessons. He also corresponds with a D/R prisoner in Texas.

GIULIA PELLIZZARI, an undergraduate psychology student, attends human rights meetings in high schools and encourages students to support the defense of human rights, corresponds with a death row inmate and runs the correspondence section of the Coalition. She embodies the new recruits section of the association and tries to raise awareness about social justice among her peers. She is an inspiring voice for her generation.

WHY WE NEED HELP

By choice of the founding members back in 1997, the members of the Coalition are all volunteers and do not receive - nor will ever receive - any money for the daily assignments they carry out domestically and abroad. In a world where everything has become more complicated, so has our work. The ongoing wars, the new U.S. crusade against migrants and the ongoing deportations, the persecution of minorities and the resulting mass incarcerations (the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with huge racial disparities), all the way up to the application of capital punishment, have very serious consequences for communities, such as the disorientation and disruption of families and the social fabric as a whole.

Collaborating with families and working with human rights associations, religious and non-religious communities, and local entities in educating about legality, crime prevention, respect for human and civil rights, and the establishment of common strategies (US-EU and beyond) is a key part of our work.

HOW WE SPEND YOUR DONATIONS

The donations are intended to cover the costs associated with organizing and hosting the events and creating effective information materials to be used at the events scheduled in Texas (docuvideos, paper files/dossiers and others).

They will also serve to cover travel, food and lodging expenses.

In addition, for those who donate, there will be a special thank you: we will acknowledge your contribution and include your name in the credits/acknowledgements that appear at the end of the film. This is a way of publicly recognizing your involvement in the project as a supporter.
