We’re running the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon in November, woo! We’ve been getting ready to run petty fast but we’re not just going to go and run the marathon, we also want to raise some money and awareness for a local abortion group in Indiana called the All Options Hoosier Abortion Fund. With the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, Indiana has been one of the many states left with devastating impacts of the overturned precedent.

When Roe v Wade was overturned, it left everything for the states to decide. In August, Indiana finalized a nearly total abortion ban starting at zero weeks of life, with 39 republicans voting to have a complete abortion ban that would include rape, incest, child bearer’s health, and fetal abnormalities. Today, the law allows exceptions for the above but only up to 10 weeks. This means that a child-bearing person in Indiana would only have 10 weeks to have an abortion in the case of rape or incest. Having an abortion is now considered a level 5 felony in the state of Indiana, which could result in 1-6 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 dollars.

The All Options Hoosier Abortion Fund helps assist with finding an abortion provider, additional reproductive resources (i.e. diaper assistance, tampons/pads), and providing safe anonymous help to those impacted by the abortion ban in Indiana. We are raising money to support this local group, and will wear some homemade singlets on the course dedicated to the organization, hoping to raise additional awareness and funds as we run.
