For centuries, Indigenous peoples in the USA have faced oppression, loss of culture, and the ongoing impacts of colonization. As an ordained Reverend, I have witnessed both the pain caused by our history and the hope that comes from working together toward reconciliation. Many faith institutions, including those I have been part of, have a complicated past—especially through involvement in boarding schools that harmed Indigenous communities. Today, I am committed to rebuilding trust and forging new relationships based on respect, healing, and unity.
In this spirit, I am working with leaders in the Indigenous community to organize an International Peace and Reconciliation Summit Planning Retreat, taking place April 24-27, 2026 at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. This retreat is a vital step in bringing together Indigenous leaders and members of the larger community to listen, learn, and plan for a future rooted in justice and mutual understanding. Our goal is to create a space where all voices are heard and where we can begin to heal the wounds of the past together.
The funds raised through this campaign will directly support the travel costs for Indigenous leaders, ensuring their presence and participation at the retreat. Your support will help make this gathering possible and will contribute to a movement of reconciliation that extends far beyond this event. The spirit of the summit is centered in a love that, when embodied, leads to a local, national, and global recalibration of consciousness. Each of us is called to care for one another and for Mother Earth. The challenges we face are too deep and complex for any one person or institution to address alone. It is time for us to come together as a community, share our perspectives, and commit to addressing our common challenges united in truth and love. Thank you for joining us on this journey toward healing and unity.
