Indie News. Working-Class Voice. We Need You.

We're building a paper that fights for the forgotten. Join us.

The Berkshires need a newspaper that doesn’t answer to real estate developers, corporate advertisers, or party bosses. We need a paper that answers to you.

That’s what the Greylock Guardian is all about — fearless, independent journalism printed every other week and rooted in the everyday lives of working people.

What Is the Greylock Guardian?
The Guardian is a new biweekly print newspaper from longtime independent journalist Jason Velázquez, founder of the Greylock Glass. It will cover labor, housing, inequality, corruption, and community stories that the corporate-owned press won't touch.

Imagine the best of the alt-weekly tradition — bold reporting, biting commentary, local voices, and regional culture — with a clear working-class lens.

This paper isn’t trying to please everyone. It’s trying to tell the truth.

Why Now?
As newsrooms shutter and billionaires buy up what’s left, we’re betting on something radical: real journalism on real paper. A broadsheet you can hold in your hands. A story that can’t be shadowbanned, throttled, or disappeared.

With the 2026 elections approaching and economic pressure mounting on working families, the need for community-rooted reporting has never been more urgent.

What Your Contribution Supports
We’re seeking $42,000 to fund six months of print operations — enough runway to prove this paper matters and build the ad revenue we need to sustain it long-term.

Here’s what your donation helps cover:

Printing costs – $920/month for two 16-page, black-and-white issues

Office space & utilities – $1,200/month

One fair wage – For the full-time publisher/editor/designer/distributor (that’s me)

Freelance budget – To pay at least two contributing writers per issue

Transportation & distribution – Getting the paper out into diners, barber shops, cafés, laundromats, and community centers across the Berkshires

Help Us Build This Together
If you believe in local journalism that punches up — not down — we need your help.

Donate whatever you can. Share this campaign. Tell your neighbors. Ask your union to pitch in. Every dollar gets us closer to print day.

No corporate owners. No hedge fund vultures. Just truth, grit, and ink on paper.

Let’s build the paper our community deserves.
Let’s launch the Greylock Guardian.

Rewards for Our Backers
We're a working-class paper, so we're not offering yachts or private tours of the newsroom (it’s a folding table and a battered laptop). But we are offering these symbolic rewards as a way of saying thanks — and welcoming you into the story of the Greylock Guardian.

You’re part of the ink-stained resistance.

You’re part of our watchful crew now.
