This past week, I have been an extremely demanding, emotional, confused and irritable patient of the ICU nurses at RPA... AND IM NOT EVEN THE PATIENT IN THE BED.

This week, my family has had the incredibly unfortunate experience of needing the ICU team at RPA in Sydney.

(By way of background, Im a Registered Midwife. Ive spent alot of my life's work on the wards and know the usual ins and outs of hospital work. Actually, as fate would have it, I spent over 10 years giving what i thought was my all, at this very hospital.)

BUT THESE ICU NURSES ARE NEXT LEVEL.

Beyond highly skilled+++ caring+++ friendly+++ professional+++ patient+++ I could go on and on and on and on and on but I will stop now and say:

If you live in NSW, do you know how lucky you are to have this team available to you?! I didnt til this time 8 days ago. So be it by ambulance, helicopter, magic carpet or broomstick, if you ever need transport to this place, the miracle of your story will be that you were cared for by the team at RPA ICU.

But here's the thing... they're chronically underpaid and understaffed and burn out is real. So while we cant get them an official payrise today, we can acknowledge them, maybe ease their own load a bit and thank them for their skill, compassion, professionalism and dedication they give us by shouting them even just $5 for their next coffee or whatever they themselves need.

Any money raised here, will go to the ICU nurses at RPA Hospital in Camperdown, NSW.
