Inclusive Play park equipment for Higham Ferrers
Donazione protetta
Hello,
Thank you so much for reading this page.
I’ve set this up on behalf of my friends, Claire & Simon & their little girl, Ivy.
Ivy is 2 years old & is such a beautiful little girl. She literally lights up a room with her infectious smile and equally doesn’t mind giving you the side eye if she’s not impressed (still looks adorable though!)
Ivy is paralysed from the waist down and will soon be a full time wheelchair user once she outgrows her pram. Despite this, with her parents encouragement and full support, Ivy has had the determination to meet many milestones the Doctors said she wouldn’t!
Higham Ferrers does not have inclusive play equipment for disabled children & they are currently having to travel to Bedford just to have a “quick visit to the park”.
This blows my mind & is so disappointing, Though, I’ll be honest, I’d have probably not even known/gave it a thought until now that local play areas don’t have inclusive equipment!
let’s help change this for Ivy & for all the other children who would benefit from this. This wouldn’t just benefit children using the equipment, it would be beneficial to the parents. Having equipment that is in walking distance & not having to make a day of travelling to a park would be invaluable, I’m sure.
As the landlady & Landlord of the Queens Head, Claire & Simon are planning a fundraising weekend in October. please read below which I took from the Facebook post that Claire shared.
“Fundraising weekend!!
So we have been planning for a while now and it's time to let you all know!
Friday October 4th The Retro will be live from 9pm
Saturday 5th October- Ibiza night with Disco Stu
Sunday kids disco in the afternoon with added treat to be confirmed, karaoke and disco for the adults in the evening with Richard Woods
We will also be having a huge xxx!So the reason why we are doing this amazing weekend is to raise as much money as possible to go towards installing all inclusive play equipment at the local park. As most of you know our daughter Ivy will be a full time wheelchair user once she has out grown her buggy and since then we have noticed the complete lack of play equipment for children with disabilities, we currently have to travel to Bedford to use their amazing park.
We are working closely with the mayor of higham to get the park accessible for others like Ivy.
In the coming months we will be asking for donations and xxx prizes and I know the amazing people of rushden and higham will fully support this! ❤️❤️”
You can go to the “Queens head, Higham Ferrers” Facebook page for more information on this & any updates.
There’s a collection box at the Queens head and also at other local businesses in Higham Ferrers.
I wanted to make sure to maximise the fundraising amount and to reach those online too that would like to help.
Thanks again for reading!
If you are able to give, big or small this would be very much appreciated. If you’re not in a position to do this, please could you share this on your social media & with your friends and family as this would help just as much
