Support IN THE MOUNTAINS Festival in Berlin in 2025!

Dates: 12-14 September 2025 at PANKE / Berlin

Organized by untitled tbilisi and South Caucasus Center for Culture

IN THE MOUNTAINS is a festival and platform established in 2022 for queer and feminist art from the South Caucasus Region. It aims to provide space for underrepresented stories and encounters that are alternative to the nationalist narratives in the region. At the centre of the festival is the desire to build a community of anti colonial queer and feminist artists and activists from the Caucasus region, which is led by the unity, common experiences and the beauty of our diversities.

Festival Concept 2025: Reversed Rivers

In a world marked by shifting political landscapes and deep uncertainty, we come together to reclaim our voices. This year’s festival emerges as a response to instability — a celebration of resilience, defiance, and hope in turbulent times.

Our gathering is a collective refusal to be paralyzed by fear. Through art, performance, and shared experience, we create new strategies for equity — ones rooted in solidarity, care, and courage.

We invite artists, activists, and communities to reflect on what it means to exist when the ground beneath us feels unstable. How do we resist fear without losing our tenderness? How can we reshape uncertainty into a force for connection and change?

Over three days, we’ll open spaces for reflection and celebration:
  • Performances that reclaim bodies and stories.
  • Films that document the struggles and triumphs of communities navigating instability.
  • ️ Panel discussions that amplify voices from the margins.
  • Community dinners that create moments of care and solidarity.
  • Drag shows and parties that defy fear with joy.
  • Art installations that challenge, soothe, and provoke.
  • ️ Morning podcasts that capture the echoes of our shared resilience.

We will gather not to ignore the world’s instability — but to confront it together. The ground may be unsteady, but together, we stand firm.
