How We Support Our Dementia Community:
At Home with the Seasons:
The At Home with the Seasons workshop inspire, encourage and equip our learners to connect with the seasons, both at home, and close to home. Through seasonal activities, we promote well-being, sensory stimulation, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us. Attendees receive a free resource book of the same name, specifically developed with people living with dementia and their carers in mind, so your donations will help us to sustain this valuable programme.
Art Classes:
Our art classes offer a therapeutic sensory outlet for individuals living with dementia. Our previous sessions have included collage, painting and charcoal drawing. The participants are guided through tutorials with an experienced artist and given feedback on their work. The sessions are person-centred and prompt gentle reminiscence through drawing memorable objects and favourite places. Engaging in creative activities is beneficial for self expression, learning new skills and having a positive sensory experience. Donations received will go directly to supporting the continuation of our free creative programmes.
Dementia Suffragettes:
We host an online carers support group that meets every Monday from 4pm-5pm (UK time). This is a safe space for carers and former carers to meet and talk with other carers about anything that feels difficult, to share experiences, ideas and practical tips and lift each other's spirits. All are welcome. We feel the importance of community support cannot be understated, if you agree, please consider supporting our activities.
Dementia Conversations:
This initiative provides a crucial opportunity for people living with dementia to listen, learn and share with one another. The conversations are for anyone interested in dementia and related matters, including those living with dementia, their carers, and friends. Sessions explore issues of belief, attitude, and need. Meetings take place online, once a month and provide an important space to share experience and find community support.
