On March 30th while at his home in Bolsover, my brother Chris suffered a life altering accident. While inspecting his property after a major ice storm he was struck by a falling branch. Unfortunately, the accident left him with a complete spinal cord injury and paraplegic.
Since that day, Chris has been in the hospital and rehab, with a tentative release date of October 1st. Just weeks before the accident, Chris and his wife Cheryl had retired, looking forward to a new chapter together. Cheryl has been by his side every step of the way, and now, she and their two sons are preparing their home for Chris’s return—this includes retrofitting the house for accessibility and securing an accessible vehicle.
If you know Chris, you know how much he loves his family and friends. He’s a natural organizer - strong, devoted, and always ready to have a good time and stay active. He and Cheryl have always opened their home for gatherings, making sure everyone feels welcome and cared for. Chris is a proud grandfather to four little ones, and his greatest motivation right now is to return home to be with his family and dogs.
This fundraiser is a way to offer some practical support to Chris and Cheryl as they navigate this journey together. As you can imagine, the financial toll of a sudden medical crisis can be overwhelming, adding stress to an already difficult situation.
If you are able, please consider making a contribution. Every bit helps and is so deeply appreciated. Thank you for keeping Chris and his family in your thoughts.
